The Association was established under the name of the Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologists of Newfoundland (AETTN) in 1968 with the sponsorship of the Association of Professional Engineers of Newfoundland. In 1993 AETTN Incorporated. In recent years, AETTN has been accepting an increasing portion of the financial, staffing and certification load. With increasing membership, the Association has assumed full responsibility and maintained its own office. AETTN is not a union. The Association shall not have the power to regulate, within the Province of Newfoundland or elsewhere, relations between its members and their employees through collective bargaining, nor shall it have the power to join, associate, or affiliate with any organization created for the purpose of carrying on collective bargaining in the Province of Newfoundland.
